Nominations now open for the Sustainable Business Awards in the Carolinas region

Nominate by Aug. 12 for the awards, which will be presented at the virtual Carolinas Green Gala.

Nominations are now open for the Sustainable Business Awards, which will be presented at the virtual Green Gala set for October 2020.

Since 2011, the gala has brought together sustainability advocates from across the Carolinas to toast the "best of the best" in local green buildings and leadership. This year, at a virtual venue, we will celebrate another year of achievements. These awards highlight exceptional people and projects.

Sustainable Business Awards

Projects

The Sustainable Business Awards honor excellence in high-performance design, environmental stewardship and community impact. Proceeds from this event support education, advocacy and volunteer programs in the USGBC North Carolina and USGBC South Carolina communities.

Projects may be nominated in the following five categories:

  • Innovative Project, Building Design and Construction

  • Innovative Project, Interior Design and Construction

  • Innovative Project, Existing Building Performance

  • Community Champion Project

  • Marquee Green Building

Attendees also get a voice and will vote on all nominees during the gala to select the “People's Choice” award. Nominate an exceptional project.

People

Since we believe that every story about a green building is a story about people, two special awards will be given—one to an exceptional volunteer leader and one to a community change agent in the Carolinas. Nominate yourself or someone you know who is deserving of this recognition.

Rob Eggers Memorial Scholarship

In honor of the late Rob Eggers, a valued member of the sustainable design community in Charlotte, North Carolina, up to three individuals are recognized for their work on community-based projects in the Carolinas that advance sustainability and resilience in vulnerable, low-income and other underserved communities. The recipients of the Rob Eggers Memorial Scholarship will receive a scholarship to the Greenbuild Interntional Conference and Expo in San Diego, California.

Show your support

Proceeds from the Green Gala fund education, advocacy and community projects through USGBC North Carolina and USGBC South Carolina. We hope you’ll join us and support our mission by signing on as a sponsor.

There are also several opportunities to support the event as a volunteer, from serving on the Carolinas Green Gala working group to on-site event assistance. Apply for the Green Gala working group.

For more information on the Carolinas Sustainable Business Awards, you can watch a recorded webinar on the nomination and judging process, visit our Carolinas Green Gala website or email us directly. Registration opens this summer, and we look forward to celebrating with you!
