Nominations now open for Sustainable Business Awards in the Carolinas

Nominate by Oct. 5 for the awards, which will be presented at the Green Gala.

Nominations are now open for the Sustainable Business Awards, which will be presented at the annual Green Gala.

Since 2011, the gala has brought together sustainability advocates from across the Carolinas to toast the "best of the best" in local green buildings and leadership. Mark your calendars for Thursday, Dec. 5, as we celebrate another year of achievements. This premier social event and fundraiser features offers networking, hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, dinner and unique experiences at the Mint Museum Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sustainable Business Awards

The Sustainable Business Awards honor excellence in high-performance design, environmental stewardship and community impact. Proceeds from this event support education, advocacy and volunteer programs in the USGBC North Carolina and USGBC South Carolina communities.

These awards highlight exceptional people and projects from the North Carolina and South Carolina communities. Projects may be nominated in five categories:

  • Innovative Project, Building Design and Construction

  • Innovative Project, Interior Design and Construction

  • Innovative Project, Existing Building Performance

  • Community Champion Project

  • Marquee Green Building

Attendees also get a voice, and will vote on all nominees during the gala to select the “People’s Choice” award.

Since we believe that every story about a green building is a story about people, two special awards will be given—one to an exceptional volunteer leader and one to a community change agent in the Carolinas.

Don’t be shy—nominate yourself or someone you know who is deserving of this recognition. Nominations are open until Oct. 5.

Rob Eggers Memorial Scholarship

In honor of the late Rob Eggers, a valued member of the Charlotte sustainable design community, up to three individuals are recognized for their work on community-based projects in the Carolinas that advance sustainability and resilience in vulnerable, low-income and other underserved communities. The recipients of the Rob Eggers Memorial Scholarship will receive a scholarship to Greenbuild 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.
